Monster Mates is a one-shot comedy comic about three friends trying to save their local hangout from property developers.

Lifelong friends Stokes, Gil & Howell are stuck. A year after graduating from college they’re still living together like students, struggling to get their lives going, languishing in Ripmourne, the safe but stultifying Northern coastal town they grew up in.

Like the gang, Ripmourne has gone to seed. A once thriving holiday destination, it is decades since its heyday and few signs of the town’s former glory remain.

But one of them is the Lagoon, a former ballroom which is now the last independent hangout in a town that is rapidly becoming Wetherspooned, filling up with the same old chain bars and eateries you can find pretty much anywhere else.

So, when news breaks that developers plan to buy the Lagoon to turn it into luxury flats, Stokes, Gil & Howell finally decide they need to get their butts in gear and do something, organising a fundraiser concert to save their beloved haunt.

But the drive to succeed in their plan to save the Lagoon stirs up some hitherto dormant issues within their relationships and it isn’t long before the cracks begin to show.

Can the gang save the Lagoon? And more to the point, can they do it without killing one another in the process? All is revealed in… Monster Mates!
